Our History - The Masiello Group Story

For over 40 years, The Masiello Group has served the needs of individuals and businesses in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Northern Massachusetts with a growing network of offices. While we are known as a forward-thinking organization, we also believe in the strength that comes from our long, productive history.

In the 1960s, James Masiello founded and ran The Masiello Agency, a thriving insurance company that offered a range of products to area individuals and businesses. Real estate was a natural progression in his endeavor to serve the community, and by the mid-1970s, The Masiello Agency formally extended their services to home buyers and sellers. In 1978, The Masiello Agency became an affiliate of ERA Real Estate and it was not long before the Masiello organization became a regional leader.

Masiello's entrepreneurial son, Christopher J. Masiello, who had earned his real estate license when he was just 19, joined his father's company in 1981. By 1986, he became the office's sales manager. That same year, The Masiello Agency became The Masiello Group, and went on to become one of the Monadnock region's largest home building and development companies. Christopher took over the reins of the real estate company in 1991 and went on to create an entire family of companies focused on the needs of today's homeowners.

Through numerous mergers and acquisitions in the years that followed under the leadership of Christopher J. Masiello, The Masiello Group became one of the top real estate companies in the country. In 2007, we were ranked nationally as the 87th largest real estate firm in the United States.

In 2008, The Masiello Group affiliated with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, the first and only media and lifestyle real estate franchise in the country. By focusing on the needs of today's consumers and also by providing the best tools and training for today's REALTORS® we will continue to shape the future of the real estate industry in the years to come.
