Abbot is a town in Piscataquis County, Maine, United States.
It was named for the treasurer of Bowdoin College, John Abbot.
According to the US census, the town has a total area of 35.5 square miles, of which, 34.7 square miles is land and 0.8 square miles (2.25%) is water.
As of the 2010 census, there were 714 people residing in the town, and according to the 2000 census there were 272 households, and 196 families residing in the town. The population density was 18.1 people per square mile. There were 461 housing units at an average density of 13.3 per square mile.
