Livermore Falls is a town in Androscoggin County, Maine, US. The town was settled in 1786, then incorporated in 1795 as Livermore after Deacon Elijah Livermore, who was one of the first English settlers. The county line which was determined by the Androscoggin River, divided the town. West of the river was Oxford County Maine, and east was Kennebec County Maine. Consequently, East Livermore was set off and incorporated on March 1, 1844. East Livermore became part of Androscoggin County on March 31, 1854. In 1930, East Livermore was renamed Livermore Falls, Maine. According to the US Census, the town has a total area of 20.4 square miles, of which 19.8 square miles is land and 0.7 square miles (3.33%) is water. Livermore Falls is drained by the Androscoggin River. As of the 2010 census, there were 3,187 people residing in Livermore Falls, Maine and based on the 2000 census 1,322 households, and 835 families resided in the town. The population density was 163.4 people per square mile. There were 1,502 housing units at an average density of 76.1 per square mile.
