Lyman Real Estate

Lyman is located in York County, Maine.  It is bounded to the northeast by Hollis and Dayton, to the northwest by Waterboro, to the southeast by Arundel and Kennebunk, and to the southwest by Alfred.

Lyman was named after Theodore Lyman, a wealthy shipping merchant, in 1803.  A great part of the town was devastated by the Great Fires of 1947 and today Lyman is mostly a bedroom community.  The town is home to part of the Massabesic Experimental Forest.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Lyman was home to 3,795 residents.  This included 1,366 households and 1,087 families.  The average family size was 3.04 and the average household size was 2.78.
