Newfield is located in York County, Maine.  It is situated 29 miles west of Portland and 89 miles north of Boston.  It is bordered to the north by Parsonsfield, to the east by Limerick and Waterboro, to the west by Wakefield, New Hampshire, and to the south by Acton and Shapleigh.

Newfield is home to the Willowbrook Village Museum, a recreated 19th century village.  The museum includes an old farm, two historic houses and barns, a reproduction school house, a millpond and numerous other displays.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Newfield was home to 1,328 residents.  This included 496 households and 370 families.  The average family size was 3.02 and the average household size was 2.67.
