Sidney is a town in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. Sidney was incorporated as a town on January 30, 1792. The town was named for Sir Philip Sidney, an English author. As of the 2000 census, there were 3,514 people, 1,314 households, 989 families residing in the town. The population density was 83.2 people per square mile.
