South Portland is a coastal community situated in southern Maine in Cumberland County.  It is Maine’s fourth largest city.  Villages located in South Portland include Ferry Village, Knightville, Ligonia, Pleasantdale, Skunk Hill, Town House Corner and Willard.

South Portland is home to commercial and industrial properties, a community college, a marina, a maritime museum, beaches, parks, and a large oil port.  It is also home to several parks and the historic Greenbelt walkway, a three mile trail.  Mill Creek Park, located in South Portland’s downtown includes a pond, bridge and rose garden.  

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, South Portland was home to 23,324  residents.  This included 10,047 households and 6,038 families.
