New Hampshire Real Estate
New Hampshire is a New England state, named after the southern English county of Hampshire. It borders Quebec Canada to the north and northwest, the state of Maine and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Massachusetts to the south, and Vermont to the west. The state capital is Concord, and the largest city in New Hampshire is Manchester.
Major regions in New Hampshire are the Great North Woods, the White Mountains, the Lakes Region, the Seacoast, the Merrimack Valley, the Monadnock Region and the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee area. New Hampshire has a coastline of 18 miles in length.
There are currently ten counties in New Hampshire. They include Belknap County, Carroll County, Cheshire County, Coos County, Grafton County, Hillsborough County, Merrimack County, Rockingham County, Strafford County and Sullivan County. The land area of the counties tends to be smaller in Southern New Hampshire where the population is concentrated. The land area is larger in Northern New Hampshire counties.
As of 2006, New Hampshire was home to 1,314,898 residents. In 2002, there were 561,175 homes in New Hampshire. In 2005, there were 583,324 New Hampshire homes. By 2008, there were 597,129 homes in New Hampshire. The total land area in New Hampshire is 8,968 square miles.
