Milton is located in northeast Strafford County, New Hampshire, and is situated along the Maine border. It includes the Village of Milton Hills and is located 20 miles from Dover and 40 miles from Concord.
Milton is home to a chain of lakes known as Three Ponds, offering a boat launch and a public beach. The town also offers other outdoor recreation including camping, fishing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.
Milton contains many examples of 19th century distinctive architecture. It is home to the Milton Town House, which was built in 1808 and the Milton Free Public Library, formerly a school house built in 1875
The town is also home to the New Hampshire Farm Museum. The property includes an historic farmhouse, a 3-story barn, live animals, agricultural machinery and a nature trail.
