Nashua Real Estate

Known as “The Gate City”, Nashua is located in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.  This New England city is bordered on the east by the Merrimack River, across from the town of Hudson, New Hampshire.  Nashua is the second largest city in New Hampshire, and the three northern New England states.  

Nashua’s close proximity to Boston, the seacoast, and the White Mountains has contributed to the city’s economic expansion.  It has been honored twice as the "Best Place to Live in America," by Money Magazine.  Nashua was also ranked as the 27th safest city in the country by the Morgan Quitno Press in 2007.

Nashua was once an early 19th century manufacturing town built around the textile industry.  It was surrounded by miles of farmland, meadows and woodland.  The city was first known as Dunstable and was renamed after the Nashua River in 1836.  

Nashua’s historic downtown is a commercial, entertainment, and dining destination.  The city’s commercial districts include one on Amherst Street and one on Daniel Webster Highway.  New Hampshire’s non existent sales tax has made Nashua’s Pheasant Lane Mall a popular shopping destination for neighboring Massachusetts residents.

The city of Nashua also includes traditional urban neighborhoods and contemporary suburban neighborhoods.  Nashua is part of Boston’s high-tech corridor, and is home to BAE Systems, Hewlett-Packard and Nashua Corporation.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Nashua’s population was 86,605 people.  This included 34,614 households and 22,083 families.  The estimated population of Nashua in 2007 was 87,150. Nashua is comprised of 30.9 square miles of land and 0.9 square miles of water. 

Nashua Real estate and Homes: In 2000, there were 35,387 homes and an average of 1,146 homes (houses / condos) per square mile.  In 2007, it was estimated that real estate in Nashua was comprised of a total of 37,017 homes.  This included 16,900 single family homes and 19,227 multi-unit homes.
