Northwood Real Estate

Northwood is a small bedroom town located in the northern corner of Rockingham County, in New Hampshire.  It is home to nine lakes and ponds, miles of country road, over one hundred small businesses, and many old homes and public buildings.

Northwood was founded in 1773 and was once part of Nottingham.  The area had been referred to as the Great North Woods, which is where the name Northwood was derived.  The town includes four historic districts;  Northwood Narrows, Northwood Center, Northwood Ridge and East Northwood. 

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Northwood’s population at the time was 4,079 people.  This included 1,347 households and 1,000 families.  The average family size was 3.07 and the average household size was 2.7.  Northwood is comprised of 28 square miles of land and 2.1 square miles of water. 

Northwood Real Estate and Homes:  In 2000, there were 1,905 homes in Northwood and an average of 68 homes (houses / condos) per square mile.  By 2007, it was estimated that real estate in Northwood was comprised of a total of 2,257 homes.  This included 1,726 single family homes and 250 multi-unit homes.
