Sanbornton is a rural town located in Belknap County, in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. It includes the villages of Gaza and North Sanbornton. It is bordered by the Pemigewasset River on the west, and by Winnisquam Lake on the east.
Sanbornton was incorporated in 1770 by Governor John Wentworth. It originally included Sanbornton Bridge.
According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Sanbornton was home to 2,581 residents. This included 969 households and 749 families. The average family size was 2.97 and the average household size was 2.66. Sanbornton is comprised of 47.5 square miles of land and 2.2 square miles of water.
