Winchester Real Estate

Winchester is located in Cheshire County, at the intersection of routes 10, 119, and 78 in New Hampshire.   It includes the town of Ashuelot and part of Pisgah State Park.  Winchester is home to the Monadnock Speedway, the Sheridan House Museum, Ashuelot Bridge, the Conant Library Museum and two covered bridges.

The town was first named Arlington, in honor of the Earl of Arlington, Charles Fitznoy.  It became incorporated as Winchester in 1733 and became part of the New Hampshire province in 1741.

Primarily an agricultural town, Winchester is also home to some small industries.  The first manufacturer of musical instruments, Graves and Company, was established in Winchester in the 1830’s.  The town has also become home to textile mills and woodenware factories. 

Winchester is comprised of 54.9 square miles of land and .6 square miles of water.   According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Winchester’s population at the time included 4,144 people, 1,094 families and 1,557 households.  The average family size was 3.03 and the average household size was 2.61.

Winchester Real Estate and Properties:  In 2007, it was estimated that real estate in Winchester was comprised of 1,904 total homes.  This included 1,216 single family houses and 348 multi unit homes.
