Windham is located in Rockingham County, New Hampshire and is known as The Jewel of Southern New Hampshire. The city’s transportation provides an easy commute to Boston, Manchester airport, the White Mountains and the New Hampshire Seacoast. Windham contains 26.7 square miles of land area and 1.0 square miles of inland water area. Windham was settled in 1719 and incorporated in 1742. It was named after Sir Charles Wyndham. According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Windham’s population was 10,709. This included 3,568 households, and 3,018 families. The average family size was 3.25 and the average household size was 2.98. In 2007, it was estimated that Windham’s population was 13,137.
