Reading is a mountainous town located in Windsor County, Vermont.    The town includes South Reading, Felchville and Hammondsville.  South Reading is located in the area of town near the Old Stone Schoolhouse and the Old Stone Church.  Felchville is referred to as “Reading” or “Downtown” and includes the town hall, school, library and stores.  Hammondsville is located near the crossroads or Vermont Route 106 and Bailey’s Mills Road.

The Reading Historical Society owns many historical buildings and properties.  They include the 17-acre Calleo Property, the Methodist Church and Stone Chimney.

Reading is home to Jenne Farm, one of the most widely photographed farms in the world.  The farm has appeared in movies, television ads, magazine covers, photography books, posters and postcards.  

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Reading was home to 707 residents.  This included 286 households and 203 families.  Reading is comprised of 41.5 square miles of land and 0.2 square miles of water.
