Sandgate Real Estate

Sandgate is a historic hill town located in the western part of Bennington County, Vermont.  It is bordered by New York State, and the towns of Arlington, Manchester and Rupert.  It is 20 miles from Bennington and 31 miles from Rutland.

Several mountains are located in Sandgate, including the Shettarack, Bald, Spruce, Equinox, Red and Searing Hill Mountains.  The town offers deer hunting and trout fishing.  

Sandgate no longer has its own school district.  However, an old Sandgate school house, built around 1840, is still located on its original site in town.

Sandgate Vermont was home to 353 residents, according to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau.  This included 149 households and 98 families.  Sandgate Vermont is comprised of 42.2 square miles of land and .04 square miles of water.
