Townshend is a quaint New England village located in Windham, Vermont. It is situated in the upper West River Valley. 

Townshend is home to a full size grocery store, a hospital and many gift stores.  It is also home to many campgrounds, a major inn and conference center, bed and breakfasts, and restaurants.  Recreational opportunities exist through the Townshend State Park and the Townshend Dam and Recreational Area.  The town hosts several events such as the Hospital Fair Days, The Pumpkin Festival and several farmer’s markets and flea markets.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Townsend was home to 1,085 residents.  The average family size was 2.84 and the average household size was 2.39.  Townsend, Vermont is comprised of 42.7 square miles of land and 0.1 square miles of water.
