Better Homes and Gardens The Masiello Group is home to over 600 agents and staff that work in 35 offices across northern New England. Our team is some of the best in the business, and we love giving the public a chance to get to know them better.
This month, we're shining a spotlight on Kerry MacDougall, Sales Director and Realtor at our North Conway, New Hampshire office.
Our marketing team had the opportunity recently to sit down with Kerry and learn more about her experience, life in the real estate industry, and what it's like to work at The Masiello Group. Here's what we learned.
Experience
Kerry has been an agent for over 12 years, making her an excellent addition to The Masiello Group team. As a Sales Director, her days are a mix between coaching and thoughtfully supporting the agents and staff at our North Conway office, as well as working with a small group of her own clients.
Every professional has their "why," and Kerry's is simple. She became an agent because she loves homes. She loves the competitive aspect of sales and wants everyone to experience the pride and joy of homeownership. She also believes there is no better feeling than walking into a home and knowing it's the one.
Kerry joined The Masiello Group well over a year ago, and when asked what sets them apart from other brokerages, she said, "TMG offers a family-owned vibe combined with the never-ending list of resources offered by Better and Homes and Gardens. The company is committed to its agents and staff but also recognizes the importance of work/life balance. It does what it can to support that balance while ensuring the needs of our clients are always met with success."
Another aspect of the brokerage she finds noteworthy is the day-to-day support offered by administration. She says, "It's huge! I really can't say enough. I have at my fingertips an incredible business support specialist on-site and a backup team should she be away. If I want a
social media graphic, a mailing, or an email blast, it gets done right off. That's so key in this fast-paced market where we need to be nimble and move quickly."
Agent Life
After learning about Kerry's role at The Masiello Group and her experience working with the team, we wanted to know more about her as an agent. Here are some of the questions we asked and what she had to say.
Q: "As an agent, how do you help buyers stand out among other agents?"
A: First, by educating them. Knowledge is power! Also, tee'ing them up for success by ensuring they have their ducks in a row and are ready to compete. This sounds a little like training for a race!!! But, you want to ensure they have their proof of funds set, financing commitment letter, they know the association they are buying in, etc...anything that slows down the process or is lacking can impact their ability to win in this sellers' market.
Q: How do you market homes for sellers?
A: The internet is key, but you want to round it out and cover other bases like mailing, social media, open houses, etc., so when an offer comes in, the seller can feel confident we've done everything possible to spread the word and bring the best buyers.
Q: How important is communication with clients, and what does that look like for you?
A: Communication is key to the success of a sale and a positive sales experience. Knowledge is power. The more I know about the house or a seller's circumstances, the better I can be at selling the house on their terms and creating a win for them.
No one likes feeling left in the dark or questioning what is being done to sell or find their home. I schedule regular updates with my clients to review feedback and address any issues that may be coming up, discuss their worries/concerns and fill them in on the steps being taken to help them buy or sell.
Q: What's your favorite part of the job?
A: Coaching and working with the agents in my office, along with educating my clients on the local market and this incredible community.
Q: What's something you wish everyone knew about real estate?
A: Right now, I wish everyone knew the reports they're seeing on the news about prices dropping aren't the case in my region. We've slowed due to low inventory, but prices are strong, and it's still a sellers' market here. Supply is low, and demand is still high here.
Q: What would you say to someone considering becoming an agent?
A: You'll work hard, but there are so many opportunities for wins. As a parent who wants to go to school events or have some schedule flexibility, it's been nice for me.
